Measure Area

  • Take LENGTH 1 and Multiply that by WIDTH 1 to get overall square footage.
  • Overall square footage is the area of the furthest dimensions of the room.
  • Take length of cabinet A and Multiply that by Width of cabinet A to find area of cabinet A
  • Subtract area of cabinet A from overall square footage.
  • Repeat this step for all cabinets or bump outs etc. to find the Actual Square Footage of a Room
  • When dealing with angels always turn it into a square and divide by two as seen in the pink shaded area of the illustration above. 
  • Here’s a cheater for multiplying inches
  • 1″    =    .08
  • 2″    =    .17
  • 3″    =    .25
  • 4″    =    .33
  • 5″    =    .42
  • 6″    =    .5
  • 7″    =    .58
  • 8″    =    .67
  • 9″    =    .75
  • 10″    =    .83
  • 11″    =    .92
